armourfromthefirsttitlewhichgivesyoualotofsuperhuman
abilities,suchassuperstrengthandsuperspeed.Usingthenanosuitwas
alwaysfun,butthistimearoundthegameisrunningmuchbetterthanks
toengineoptimisationsandenhancements.TheopennatureofWarheadlets
youdictatethetermsofcombatandIalwaysreallyenjoyedthisaspect
ofthegame,youaren』tmerelyrunningfrompointAtopointBviaan
invisibleingametunnel.Thewealthoftacticsatyourdisposalwithall
thesuitsabilitiescanleadintosomewonderfullyversatilecombat
situations.Youcansneakupbehindagroupofsoldiers,dropagrenade,
sprinttotheside,watchasittakeshalfofthemout,thenrushback
in,andgrabonethenhurlhimacrossthelandscapeintoatree.Thisis
wherethegamescoresveryhighly,inthefreedomofcombatandmovement.

Thegamedevelopersareawareofthemaincharactersabilitiesandpower,
somostofthecombatsituationsinvolveyouagainaplethoraofenemies.
ThistimearoundhoweverthegameseemstobemorerelentlessinaCall
OfDuty4styleandyourarelygettimetobreathewhichmakesforan
adrenalinefuelledexperience.

Thosepeoplewholiketorunawayfromafighttomakequickmaptime
willbefrustratedtohearthatsometimesthefoesfollowyou,soyoumay
haveranpastsituation1intosituation2,onlytofindtheoriginalbad
guysareonyourasswhileyouaredealingwiththenewgroup.Ithinkthis
isagreataspectasitmakesyouawarethatyoucan』tjustskip
sectionsofthegametomakequickprogression.TheAIisrathergoodas
well,soyoufrequentlyseethealiensdartingaroundalotquickerthan
thehumansbehindcoverandtherearevariousAlientypesnowincludinga
shieldcarrierwhoprotectsthegruntsfrombullets.Thismeansnormallyif
youseethemyouneedtoconcentrateonkillingthemfirstotherwisethey
makeyourlifealivinghell.

Therearesomenewweapons,suchasthenewsubmachinegunandsixshot
grenadelauncher(awesome!).Alsoyouaregivensomenewitems,suchas
antitankmineswhichproveusefullaterinthegame.Lowerdifficultly
levelsinthisgameallowyoutocollectammobymerelywalkingoverit
whichissuretoappealtothepurearcadegunandrunnersoutthere.

Warheadisn』taslongastheoriginalgame,howeverasitisbasically
anexpansionpackIthinkthiswasexpected.Thatsaid,thereisstill
enoughgameplaytolastquiteafewintensehours,Ibeatitin6hours
orso.Consideringitonlycosts$29.99Ifeelit』sprettygoodvalue.The
replayvalueisquitehighasyoucanchangeyourcombattacticsifyou
fancyanotherblastthroughthesingleplayermodeonahigherdifficulty
level.

TheenvironmentdeservesspecialmentionasCrytekhavevastlyimprovedthe
landscape,nowcertainsectionsoftheicecoveredenvironmentshatterwhen
bulletshitthem.AsIbrieflymentionedearlier,theperformanceissues
withtheoriginalhavebeenfinetunedandresolved.

Equallyso,somepeoplemightbeexpectingthegraphicstolookworse,
amazinglyeventhoughthegamerunsbetter,thegraphicsareevenbetter.
Thelightingisimproved,thereareenhancedparticleeffectsandthe
texturesarehigherresolution.Thisisthegametotestyournewhigh
endgraphicscardtothehilt,IlosttrackofhowmanytimesIjustpaused
thegametolookaroundtheenvironmentasthelightbrokethroughthe
treestocastshadowsonthegroundinfrontofme.Itreallyis
spectacular.

MysystemforthereviewwasaQ6600witha260GTXandIwasabletoset
thegraphicsto1920x1200withdetailsatEnthusiastlevel(basicallythe
sameasveryhighfrombefore).Thegamenotonlylookedamazingbutitran
aroundthe35-50fpsmark.Anyonewitha8800GTSorhigherwillbeableto
enjoyCrysisathighresolutionwiththeeyecandyonfull.Forthose
withslightlylessimpressivehardware,youcancomfortablyuseGamer
setting,whichincreasesframeratesbyagood20%.Youdolosealittleof
theimagequalityobviouslybutit』sstillveryimpressive.

TheoriginalCrysishadamultiplayermodewhichwascalledPower
Strugglewhichreceivedafairamountofabusefromthepublicforbeing
labouredandcomplex.CrysisWarsimprovesthissituationbyintroducing
anewarrayofmapsgearedfordeatchmatchstylegames,withtheadded
twistthateveryoneisinananosuit.Thismeansallthetacticsyou
learnedinsingleplayerwiththesuitcanstillbeusedinmultiplayer,
youcanhideinfoliageininvisiblemodewhilewaitingonanotherplayer
toblindlyrunpast.Youcanchangeintostrengthmodetolandakiller
blowonthebackofhishead....yestheoptionsarealmostendless.

Themapsarewonderfullydesignedandthelightingeffectscanbringthe
levelstolife,thefoggystylegraveyardbattlesaremypersonal
favourites.Thereisalsoavehiclemapwhichisgreatfuntoplay,
Battlefieldstylewithtanks,helicoptersandAPC』sa-plenty.Infantry
stillshouldnotbeoverlookedhoweverastheycanstilltakethemoutwith
antivehicleweapons.

Crytekhavepromisedtodelivermoredynamiccontentasthemonthspass,so
potentiallythissectionofthegamecouldprovetobeverysuccessful,
iftheykeeptotheirword.
