JavaScript is scripting programming language
used in millions of Web pages worldwide. It
can be embedded into the Web page to add
functionality. Scripting languages are not
compiled, which means that JavaScript source
code has to be downloaded together with
Web page in order to be run by the Web browser.
This has several drawbacks:
JavaScript source code can be easily viewed by
anyone. All it takes is to open Web page in the
Web browser and to choose option View Source.
This means that anyone can steal your JavaScript
code, modify it and reuse it for his own purposes.
Source code has descriptive variable and function
names. Also comments are added to make source code
more readable. This can lead to large Web pages. On
the other side, comments and descriptive variable
and function names help the one that has stolen
your JavaScript code to manage with it easily.
Large Web pages take more time to download and
get displayed by the Web browser. Because
browser interprets JavaScript code, shorter
the statement, faster it runs.
Jasob addresses all mentioned issues. With
Jasob your JavaScript code will become impossible
to understand thus preventing anyone to steal and
modify it, its size will shrink for around 70%
which will significantly improve download time
and execution speed in the Web browser. How
Jasob achieves this? Jasob reads files with
JavaScript code and replaces descriptive variable
and function names like Customer, Salary,
FirstName... with meaningless names like d, g,
m... It also removes comments and unnecessary
white space characters (space, tab, carriage
return, line feed). The functionality of the
code remains the same while source code changes
dramatically. This process is called obfuscation.
Obfuscated code is impossible to reverse-

and extremely hard or impossible to understand.
The size of obfuscated code is much smaller than
the original code. Typical shrinkage is around
70%. This allows for better download time and
faster execution in the Web browser.
